From 1977-1986, the Icelandic Freezing Company London office recruited English-speaking girls to work in Faskrudsfjordur, Iceland, for the winter work seasons. Most of the girls were accommodated in the Hotel Valholl in the village and worked in the fish factory. In March 2011, several New Zealanders and Australians from the 1977 group decided to try and find other girls who had worked there, and connect with the villagers. The purpose was, and still is, to reconnect people and relive memories through the sharing of photos from those times. There are now over 300 photos of the foreign workers and the villagers from all those years ago.

If you, or someone who know, worked in the village for one or more work seasons from 1977-1986, please email connect6414@hotmail.com for more information. Takk fyrir!

The photo of Faskrudsfjordur with the Hotel Valholl in the foreground was taken in 2011 by Jónína Óskarsdöttir. Thanks to everyone who has shared their photos of the village, the villagers and the foreign workers.
